Alabama honors valid concealed carry permits from any other state. Carry your permit on your person at all times while armed.
Permitless Carry โ AL Residents Only
Alabama's permitless carry law (eff. Jan 1, 2023) applies to Alabama residents only. Out-of-state visitors must have a valid permit from their home state.
Prohibited Locations
Even with a valid permit: police stations, courthouses, jails, Kโ12 schools, athletic events, churches (unless authorized by the church), anywhere alcohol is sold for on-premises consumption, and all federal facilities.
Duty to Inform
Alabama has no duty-to-inform law. You are not required to proactively tell a law enforcement officer you are carrying, but you must comply with any lawful order to disclose.
